It has been over two years since I have written, reviewed or even looked at the Karma Chronicles. Not just with me but with the world and technology too. The first thing I noticed was how outdated my blog design was compared to how innovative and fresh blog designs can be these days. Mental note: decide whether to keep the old design for sentimental value or update to something more current. When I started this blog it was during the infancy of social media and social networking.

I think I had about 10 friends who actually had twitter all were public relations, marketing or communication majors and my college friends were the only ones allowed on Facebook. And how do you survive without one?

Cell phones were extremely common then but have now evolved into appendages that we would not be able to function properly without. Our society used to be filled with active, engaged participants who publicly interacted, socialized and played outside. We have now progressed or regressed, depends on how you look at it into an isolated, social media and information hungry community of individuals who lack personal interaction and communication skills.

Do not even get me started with what this is doing to our younger generations and how this will impact the future of our country and our world… It is actually kind of sad to think about and look back on. On the flip side, these new technologies have provided for immense developments in the fields of education, medicine, science, business etc.

An argument can be made for either side and who is to decide which is right. Okay enough about the world… back to me…. Another thing I noticed was how I used to devote a great deal of my time to self reflection, more importantly in regards to my traveling. I miss this part of me. I not only had more time to reflect but also had more time and the flexibility in my life to travel. I obviously have grown up and changed and other things have taken priority in my life and that is okay.

Back then, when I returned home from a trip, I would sort through all of my things itineraries, travel documents, boarding passes, pictures etc. I would do this so that I could look back one day and never forget any even small detail of my travels. I have since, greatly failed in that regard and have taken some amazing trips without stopping to appreciate my experiences afterward. There is no way I could remember now all of the small details that were fresh in my mind when I first returned but I can vow to start doing this again from here on out.

In the last two years, my world view and life plan has changed drastically. I worked various jobs related to the marketing and travel industry, all of which provided me with amazing experiences and opportunities that I will cherish forever.

In April of , I purchased my first home!! This was a huge accomplishment that I could not have done without the support of my parents and my boyfriend, both of whom I owe my life to.

Since moving into our house, my boyfriend and I have constantly been updating and turning the house into our home. We have made an incredible transformation to both the inside and the outside and will continually be working on things until it is exactly where we want it to be.

It can be stressful at times but it is totally worth it and completely satisfying! I believe this has also forced us to grow and mature as a couple and I seriously could not do this without him.

Our next project is to renovate our kitchen. Wish us luck! We have since, also added two furry members to our family. We now have two Yorkshire Terriers, named Karma and Buddha who are the absolute best!

My career path is honestly what has changed the most… around the time I was buying my house, I also got laid off from my job. The company I was working for at the time, was based in the UK and they decided to pull all marketing operations back overseas thus eliminating my position and a variety of others. I was devastated but began to question if this was something I wanted to do forever. I thought about becoming a teacher but did not know where to start.

After doing some research I decided to begin by substitute teaching to see if pursuing a career in teaching was actually something I was interested in and also to see what grades would be the best fit for me. I began substitute teaching and immediately fell in love with the elementary school grades.

I decided to cross off middle and high school from my list and focus solely on grades K I worked both as the primary teacher and as an aide providing support to the primary teacher, depending on the day.

The feeling I got from commanding a classroom was unreal. Never knowing how gratifying it was to be met with challenges such as overcoming behavioral problems or giving a little extra attention to the students who might not have the best support system at home became my passion.

I loved this part of teaching and knew immediately this is what I was meant to do. I currently work at an elementary school as a paraprofessional in a Kindergarten classroom and last school year, I was a full time substitute teacher as an aide in a fourth grade classroom.

I am fortunate the transition has been so easy for me and know that making this change is the best decision I ever made, both now and later in my life. Lots of fun and exciting things have also happened in my social and personal life, which has kept me sane through all of the ups and downs.

Some of the highlights include: attending weddings, bridal showers, house warming parties, bachelorettes, baby showers and all the events that go along with getting married, buying houses and having babies. All in all, my social calendar is full on a constant basis. I have maintained constant communication with my group of girlfriends from college, which is not easy at times since we live all around the country.

I cannot imagine my life without them. We have a special bond that I will never have with anyone else and college would not have been the same without them. We actually took a trip to Hawaii just last year to visit one of the girls who moved out there for work. It was one of the most breathtakingly beautiful trips I have ever taken and I cannot wait to go back with my boyfriend some day.

My group of girlfriends from home have all begun to settle down and have started planting their roots, which makes me feel really old.

A few have gotten married, a few have boughten houses and three of my best friends are actually engaged right now and two of them happened within the same week! It is crazy to see where everyone has ended up and exciting to live through it with all of them.

Although things have changed over the years, I always know who I can rely on, trust and go to if I ever needed anything and I am supremely grateful for that. We are all changing, progressing and growing into the people we want to be and it is nice to have those true few by your side through it all. These girls are my rocks, my support system and my backbone. Sometimes you lose touch with reality, but history has the power to bring you back to life and remember what is the most important.

Through all of the trials and tribulations and happy times over the past two years, it has led me to today. I can say with conviction that I am a better person now than I was then. I have overcome obstacles I never thought possible and I am able to walk away with my head held high. All of the change has been a good thing and I have learned so much about myself and what I want out of life.

I am optimistic about my future and cannot wait to see what is in store for me…. Can you believe I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life and this was the first time I have ever been to Nantucket. Honestly, it was exactly like my hometown Rockport,MA except way more expensive and everything was way overpriced. Mostly every place to stay on the island is an inn style place or bed and breakfast.

We stayed at the Roberts House Inn that is only a short walk from where the ferry drops you off. It was very quaint and beachy and was perfectly located a short walk from the downtown area as well as some of the beaches. A friend of mine and her boyfriend were also on the island for the weekend so when we first got there, they picked us up at the dock and we went out to her boat and did the beach for the day.

We grabbed lunch at a local sandwich shop and brought it to Jetties beach with us and just relaxed and caught up. Later on, my boyfriend and I checked-in to our inn and took a short nap and got ready for the night. We decided to call it an early night since we had left around six am to drive to the cape to get the ferry. Our next day on the island, we got breafast at a local joint and then decided to rent bikes for the day.

We rode around the downtown area for a bit and then took a chance at being adventurous and biked over to Surfside beach on the other side of the island. Lets just say that after not riding bikes for years, this was probably not the best idea.

We were both so sore after we could barely walk but it was pretty funny at the same time. We went to the Tavern for dinner, had a couple celebratory drinks and then retired for the evening, after being worn out from bike-riding and the sun. The next day we shopped a bit around town and then headed to catch the ferry home.

Overall, I am glad I got to experience Nantucket finally and it was for a special occassion, so it could not have been for a better reason. My boyfriend and I had a great weekend away together but our wallets were not too happy with us when we returned home.

Would I go back… possibly… if someone else was footing the bill, of course! Mid-summer and a relaxing vacation could not be a more perfect pair! Every summer, my boyfriends family gets a house right on Lake Winnipesaukee, for a little over a week. Family friends lend them their house each summer in exchange for watching their house in our town, while they vacation during the winter.

My boyfriend and I decided to go up to the lake house for two nights and it could not have come at a better time. After having a crazy work schedule in the midst of summer it was good to get away for a few days. We got there on a Monday night late after work. I got a little tour of the house which is amazing by the way and then headed to sleep.

The next day we woke up, had breakfast and enjoyed the rediculous view of the whole lake from the yard. My boyfriend, his brother and I, rented jet skis and explored all around the lake. We were gone for the better part of the day and came back to a dinner bbq. The second day we relaxed by the lake, went swimming, jet skied some more and then went mini-golfing before going out to dinner. My boyfriends parents took care of everything and it was such a relaxing few days away that were much needed!

Hopefully we will be returning again next summer. Our cruise was now coming close to the end.
